'The Star' shines brightly among Christmas movies

I just returned from watching  The Star with my family. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, this film shows the story of the first Christmas from a creative perspective--that of the animals.I wasn't sure what to expect when I entered the theater, but I was pleasantly surprised. The animation is very well done. The characters have real personality. The retelling of the Christmas story is funny, touching, and reverent. Though some of the voice actors don't hold Christian views, multiple biblical themes emerge, including the importance of following God--even when the crowd doesn't--and Jesus' identity as the Son of God. It's one of my new favorite Christmas films.Merry Christmas to all my readers! May you and your families experience true joy as you celebrate the birth of our Savior.-------Holly Pivec is the co-author of A New Apostolic Reformation?: A Biblical Response to a Worldwide Movement and God's Super-Apostles: Encountering the Worldwide Prophets and Apostles Movement.
