The NAR’s Nasty Names: The Top 5
If Hitler said the sky is blue, then does that mean you can discount his claim simply because it was Hitler who said so?
Of course not! If the sky is blue, then it is blue–regardless of who says it’s blue. Truth is truth, regardless of the source.
Yet, apostles and prophets in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement frequently try to dismiss the arguments of their critics simply by calling them nasty names.
The Top 5
These are the Top 5 nasty names used against critics of the NAR.
- “He is a Pharisee.” (Translation: He is not open to a new work of God through the NAR movement.)
- “She has a Jezebel spirit.” (Translation: She is persecuting the prophets just like evil Queen Jezebel did.)
- “That pastor is totally unanointed.” (Translation: That pastor has not been chosen by God to lead just like King Saul was not chosen to lead Israel, but instead David was (and NAR apostles and prophets are chosen to lead the church!)
- “The people in that church have a religious spirit.” (Translation: That church is only interested in the old revelation contained in the Bible and is not open to new revelation from NAR apostles and prophets.)
- “You are so mean-spirited!” (Translation: You are being mean by criticizing the teachings of NAR apostles and prophets.)
Has anyone ever applied one of these labels to you? Can you think of others I missed?

Instead of ‘mean-spirited’, the new term is “having a critical spirit”. Oh, yes. I have been accused of at least two of those for my writing. I have also been called a “tool of Satan”, that I just love to “tear down ministries”, and who knows what else behind my back.
I have recently come to realize that all this name calling is just a form of emotional manipulation and attempt at control. God sees what they do, and He knows the hearts behind everyone. Still, it is hard to take sometimes.
Instead of an automatic angry response, it would be nice if people would just double-check the facts for a change.

By my friends I have been called “negative”, “putting God in a box”, “underminer”, and lots more. By my enemies I have probably been called much worse. But it is worth it because I know what side I’m on.

You forgot the standard “touch not thine anointed” nonsense they throw at anyone who dares say something in which they disagree.

oobie doobie says:
“You forgot the standard “touch not thine anointed” nonsense they throw at anyone who dares say something in which they disagree.”
Yes and this, many times seems to follow the verses you present to defend your position. Perhaps we should respond as Paul did to the Churches at Galatia, Galatians 4:16 So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?

The top ones for our time are Pharisee and Legalist. The “religious spirit” one or just “their religious” is also common. I’ve also heard the “critical spirit” one as well. And the “don’t question the Lord’s annointed” theology is held onto as well.

When I correct scriptures with leaders, they always say, “you don’t understand our church” or “you’re legalistic”….Most denomination do not follow the whole Truth….

Woodhenot, it is great to hear from you! Yes, “legalistic” is another common nasty name.

My brother is heavily invested in the NAR, House of Prayer & healing meetings and lately I’ve been trying to warn him of the deceptions in this whole movement. He now says that I’m an ‘ultra-conservative’ Baptist, blaspheming the holy spirit, my faith is dry, dreary and dead, afraid to take risks and says I’m a very strong cessationist, critical, bitter, don’t know the heart of God, am not vulnerable, don’t know God intimately and he is questioning whether I’m even saved now. He has changed so much since he got into this. It’s very sad to watch and not be able to get through to him.

oh well I only qualified for 3 of the top 5 when we left or let me re-phrase that I got 2 my wife one.
Am so thankful that we are out but amazed at the deception that is in the body of Christ.

I have been called an Old Wine Skin. When demanding scripture to support some of the claims.

I sense when persecution comes it will come to those of us that hold to the old fashion truth as expressed from the commenters, and the persecution will Nucor from the world but will come from the n
NAR, ecumenical movement, the world council of churches, the word of faith cult ands all the like promoting the modern improved version of Christian thought.
Just as Jesus was persecuted from the Pharisees so will we who have not moved from the written word.

my sister called me up after the Todd Bentley mess in Lakeland,Fl..called “”REVIVAL”"she actually accused me of praying that she would get into a car accident..get killed and go to Hell! I kept asking her ..”"who is this talking?”" She said Betty. I told this evil spirit I did not know it. My sister got angry.. I was praying. Shocked I was..praying I did..crying out to God for her. Never heard from her for two months. She then said sorry!!! But since this..there has been bizarre actions and confused phone calls..as well as…texting. My sister actually acts vexed.. I have not seen her for 11 months.. I feel very uncomfortable around her now. As her last year has been accusing me of things so untrue..she makes no sense at all.
it has only revealed the complete messed up thinking being in NAR GROUP… She has become very, very unstable. Nothing is more serious then this movement as it is messing up the mental and emotional state of Christians that are dumbed down..led like sheep to their evil slaughter. This is serious..pray..pray for your friends, family pastors etc. Talking gets us no where..it is prayer and fasting..

“Judge not lest ye be judged” and “you’re not walking in love” are a few other common accusations I hear toward those who contend for the Word and expose false doctrines and teachers.

“You’re in Rebellion” and “You’re out of order” are two of the most common things verbally hurled at anyone who disagrees with the Pastor or his teachings. My husband and I just ‘escaped’ from the NAR and our former Pastor posted a nasty comment on his facebook page for his (over 600) friends to see. We had to cut everyone off…all of them. My husband sent in a very respectful resignation letter and haven’t looked back.

me too. I was told that there might be ‘spirit’ controlling me. We’re on discussion on the authentic use of tongue, comparing its use in New Testaments and todays. very sadly….i’m quitting the church. Thanks to John MacArthur for the awakening of gibberish tongue which I’m so guilty of practicing it.

Just a quick note, anyone that says they are a phophet, Ain’t, Period. Jesus said over and over,”Be not deceived”. The new apostles aren’t, and the new prophets are phoneys inspired by hell. There are twelve names written on the temple in heaven, 12!! 2Pet. 3:5 “willing ignorant”. Pretty much sums up the people of God that get snared by these demons. A sheep is dumb, and will stand still and cry while the flock is attacked by the wolf. The watchman will NOT stay silent.
