Satan’s Best Weapon

What is Satan’s best weapon?

Apostolic-prophetic churches talk a lot about “spiritual warfare” — the spiritual weapons Satan and his demons use to attack Christians.

They tend to focus on sensational things like curses, illnesses and demon possession. Regrettably, they often ignore his most effective weapon — false teachings in churches.

This weapon isn’t a secret. Jesus said false prophets and false apostles would increase in the last days (Matt. 24:24, Mark 13:22). The apostle Paul said these end-time false teachings would be inspired by demons (1 Tim. 4:1). Jude, a half-brother of Jesus, said false teachers would slip secretly into church settings (Jude 1:4).

Nearly every book in the New Testament warns about this weapon. Yet, despite, the amount of press it receives in the Bible, it gets very little airtime in apostolic-prophetic pulpits.

So, while many Christians are busy blasting Oprah’s New Age teachings, Harry Potter books or the Church of Satan, they’re being blindsided by the false teachings coming from the mouths of their own trusted “Christian” leaders. It never occurs to them that someone who holds a Bible in their hand as they preach may be leading them astray.

But that’s what makes false teachings so dangerous — they’re subtle. If Satan had a portfolio where he displayed his best work, they’d be right at the front.

False apostles and false prophets don’t wear a Pentagram or carry a wizard’s wand,  but they pose a great threat to Christians. And their presence in Christian churches shouldn’t surprise Christians, according to the apostle Paul. Speaking about this issue, he said:

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

So don’t overlook Satan’s best weapon.

Hi Holly, a very timely warning to all – interestingly, yesterday we were doing The School for Christs on-line study in Pauls last letter to II Timothy 3 concerning the last days:   1.This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  2. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3.Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4.Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;5. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  II Tim 3:1-5 KJV
We are shown that here Paul is warning Timothy, and all other believers, that in the last days, there will be people who profess to know God, v.5, but deny His power (and authority..?) in other words these are people who profess to be Christians..!!!  – and from these we are to turn away..!
In these last days we need to use discernment, we need to ‘test the spirits’, we need to be good bereans….   and we all  need to speak out against these heresies and warn others…
Keep up the good work Holly – may the peace and grace that is Jesus Christ be with you..

Amen, Holly!  As usual, your article is right on target.  It’s really frightening how these guys slip in unnoticed and gather such huge followings.

  3. Mary Ann Says:

    Thanks for this, Holly!

I agree that these false teachers and prophets pose a great threat to Christians.  On the other hand, scripture does say that some will seek these types of teachers out.

2Tim. 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
2Tim. 4:4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

    Hard to imagine, but true.

that is so true because now at times you find that we have put our main focus  and trust on our pastors,i used to go to a very big Ministry here in Africa and by God`s grace he reveald to me that things that are done there are not Godly but is a cult, you find a person being interviewed maybe after they receive the miracle and a person who is interviewing them will say what do you say to  Pastor……… after you ahve received your miracle and the person interviewed will say i thank Pastor so and so for healing me and this church always demand money from people when you get inside the church women are wearing tight clothes that reveals their bodies i remember the last day cried to God and ask Him what is happening is the day i saw the Lady Pastor wearing clothes that revealde the shape of her body you know those clothes that prostitutes wear and i realised that God is not there

So subltle! It’s scary, at least to me because there really are so many people that I believe genuinely love God but because of the way society is and the lax attitude toward the study of His word I think so many will be lead away. I for one see a big difference between the way most Christians live out their lives and the way Jesus lived.  He was a Torah observant Jew. But the church has mostly taught that we are not to live a Torah life anymore. It’s ‘bondage’ they say. I don’t know about bondage but if Jesus did it shouldn’t we too? Aren’t we supposed to ‘follow’  Him? Christian church has wandered so far off the path it’s no wonder that we’ll believe almost anything.

I was wondering what any of you thought about David Wilkerson’s warning in 1990, saying that former witches warned him that satanist and witches were being sent into churches to act like super Christians to deceive.  I think David Wilkerson had a prophecy he gave not fullfilled (which makes me very suspicious of him)

I kind of believe this infiltration is going on in the churches.  What do you have to say?

Any true Christian would understand the limitations of satan’s power. Jesus was not scared of satan (and encountered him frequently) so why would a Christ folllower filled with the Spirit of God be afraid of a satanic folower?? And if we are truly following Christ and led by His Spirit wouldn’t that person be exposed or expose themselves?? As in the Book of Acts  “Jesus I know,Paul I know but who are you?”

I believe that if you are truly Christ’s, satan would be afraid of you!

And about Mr. Wilkerson, since we are under a new Covenant I would hardly see the need to stone him but to forgive him. Correct me if I am wrong I am not sure he ever claimed to hold the office of a prophet.

deepsquatter,  I didn’t expect the comments you wrote but thank you for writing.

Concerning your first paragraph:  Have you read the book of Jude?  It’s about 2 pages, just before Revelation.  Jude, a half brother of Jesus was concerned and warned others about those coming into the churches which would deceive and lead people in bad ways.  A satanist could cause great harm to a group of Christians if the Christians are not on their guard to root them out.

Concerning your last paragraph, yes people can be wrong but not when they say it’s coming from God.

  10. deepsquatter Says:

Yes I have  read and  different translations of scripture many many times..Jude was right but  you can go into any assembly any Sunday and find someone claiming to hear ‘from God’, they are normally then hired and are called pastors and after awhile after they lie enough end up on tv. Check your Sunday TV Guide you will find many.

The sad part is the massive following some of these people have. I was on another blog eariler, where Todd Bentley was openly rebuked 5 times by people in the audience, they threw those people out, and the people cheered on Todd. It is really sad, here you have real Christians attending this service, openly rebuked and yet still no one questions.

  12. _____ Says:

I wasn’t familiar with Todd Bentley until I looked him up on http://www.alittleleaven.com
He looks like a young Uncle Fester from the Adams Family
at least on the video entitled ” Todd Bentley Meets With a “Banker Angel””

I’ve battled it out some at the church I’ve attended since the late 60’s.
They’ve gone arm in arm down the road with Willow Creek and Saddleback.  Now they’ve jerked suddently and directly into the Emergent Church movement. Which apparently Willow Creek has done recently as well.
I’ve written about it in detail on  http://www.dial-a-prayer.com

In addition to the videos on http://www.alittleleaven.com I’d recommend a good christian radio / internet show which exposes a lot of these false teachers too.  http://www.fightingforthefaith.com   or http://www.piratechristianradio.com

Can you post the link to the block where This Todd Bentley was rebuked and they threw the Christians out?  Any video?

  13. Daniel Wasserman Says:

    Dear Holly
I appreciate very much that our Great God and Saviour uses people like you to contand for the faith. I do what I can here where I live in Kempton Park South Africa. What I cannot understand is why the people in USA can’t see through Obama and his henchmen. The USA has been the leader in sneding out missionaries. I was saved by learning from an Amercan missionary. How could America allow a Muslim and Socialist Communist like Obama  become their President? I was so pleased when the Tea Party joined with the Republicans to win the mid term elections and take control of Congress. Obama is very cunning ( his wife too) and the public in USA must be made aware of Obama’s philosophies. If you have not gone to U-Tube I suggest you go there and then search ‘ Obama “. Then we have the problem with Muslims emigrating to Western countries who take their religion with them. A Muslim puts Islam before any loyalty to the country where they live and the West does nothing to stop it. Islam’s aim is to take over control of the world. People in America will have to wake up to the forces moving against Christianity. God Bless you. Daniel

Holly, your post is now 3 years old.

As I look back, it is the “seeker-friendly” atmosphere that has done 2 terrible things in the North American Church:
    1. Failed to give the whole gospel and leave the “seeker” deceived about their true need for salvation – and vulnerable because they may think they are saved and have never dealt with their sin.
    2. Starve the believing core of a local church and leave them untrained and un-grounded and vulnerable to any one coming along with “special” information – such as the NAR or Jesus Culture / Bethel Church in Redding, CA

Thanks for your persistent research and tireless postings.

  15. JoeM Says:

Television is certainly the primary tool for promoting Satan’s ultimate weapon of destruction. People often claim that television is nothing more than a reflection of human behavior. On the contrary, it influences human behavior. Think about this. Someone who carries the virtues of GOD and lives a spiritual life tends to behave certain ways. In other words, their behavior hardly reflects that of the common society. But television imitates a life full of people who behave in a way that is not spiritual or humble. The whole idea is to influence human behavior to follow it. They are seduced through a “song and dance” if you will. Comedy, Drama, Horror. You name it. Its all perverted and over-emphasized to capture the viewer and brain wash them gradually. How do we stop it? The best way obviously is to throw away your TV. Another compromise would be to get rid of the Satellite programming and/or Cable TV. Keep only commercial free copies of movies and shows that are appropriate. I personally download everything I need to burn on DVDs. So anything my family watches is strictly controlled. My kids have never seen a commercial before. But programming has become so much worse today, we have been contemplating just tossing the TV and forsaking media altogether. Its too dangerous and nearly impossible to turn it on without getting hit by some kind of corruption. I know people like to believe that there are “some” good programs out there for kids. But I have to say. Even the good ones have something in there that leads to other things. Its all unnecessary. People didnt have TVs for centuries. And its no coincidence that the one century that got hit by TV technology also happens to be the one where morality and GOD have declined rapidly. Use common sense here. The TV was created by evil and for evil. Its foolish to think it can be used for good. Because GOD did not require us to have TVs to serve Him.
