I feel that I have a more informed firsthand opinion because I attend Chuck Pierce's church. I have listened to him preach, I know his family, and I have seen the fruit of his ministry in my life and the lives of our congregation. I have found that we are consistently encouraged by our leadership to test all prophetic words against scripture, like the Bereans in Acts 17:11: 11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. We, as the church body, are always encouraged to study and know scripture. Even today I started reading Romans 6-8 for 21 days in a row like Chuck encouraged us to do this Sunday. Just last night I finished up our 10 week Beth Moore bible study with the women's ministry. I would imagine that many of you who have commented have participated in one of her studies, and know her theology to be completely biblical and orthodox. I know that Chuck is as orthodox as Beth is, and that if our leadership didn't line up with the same biblical truths that she does, we wouldn't be doing her study. Chuck's prophecies are primarily concerned with the times we are living in, and how that affects the earth realm, and Israel. The Biblical basis for the validity of knowing and understand the times come from the following passages: In 1 Chron 12:32, David is collecting an army, which includes...men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do. Here, Jesus is rebuking the Pharisees, who haven’t recognized him to be the Messiah, because they are unable to see the times for what they are, even with many prophecies regarding Jesus at their fingertips. Matt 16:2-4 2 He replied, "When evening comes, you say, `It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' 3 and in the morning, `Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. 4 A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." In these verses, Paul talks about the need to be sober, and know the times so that Jesus’ second coming doesn’t take us by surprise. 1 Thess 5:1-7 5:1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. Just so you know, Chuck gets the meaning for each year from the Hebrew symbols that make up the current Jewish year. According to Robert Heidler, who is our teaching pastor, and also a Dallas Theological Seminary grad, the numbers in Hebrew are actually letters, and numbers have specific meanings. For example, we have just begun the Jewish year 5768. The 57 in Hebrew symbols pictures a closed cycle. The 68 is a picture of a doorway, or gate. So, one of the applications for the meaning of the year 5768 is that this is a year in which things come full circle, and God opens up new doorways for us. In my experience, my circumstances have matched what each year is about surprisingly closely. And, the point here is not that a select few get to experience this. The point is that God is doing things all across the body of Christ, with Israel, and in the world in general that match His calendar. If you want to learn more about the connection between the Jews and the Church, I recommend Robert Heidler’s book “The Messianic Church Arising.” In it, he looks at how the Lord is grafting together the Jews and the Gentile church like Paul talks about in Romans 11. You can get it at www.gloryofzion.org. Chuck’s prophecies have to do with the way the meaning of the Jewish year will manifest in the Earth realm. His accuracy is what is so amazing. At risk of adding fuel to the “anti-Chuck Pierce” fire, I found another website in which a woman who is completely skeptical of prophecy and God-given revelation comes to the conclusion that because Chuck is so accurate in his prophecies regarding world events, he must be part of a huge government conspiracy to control the weather. I smile, but I also see that even those who don’t believe that God speaks today can’t get around the accuracy of his prophetic words. I know from my own experience how scary it is to move from a place where I need to understand with my mind before I can trust the Lord, to a place where I trust Him and obey, and know that my mind will get there second, as He reveals the revelation to me. It is scary, because I am not under my own control. I’m under the Holy Spirit’s control. But you know what I’ve learned about the Holy Spirit? He is Holy. He is God manifested here in the life of believers, and He can be trusted. God will never violate Himself, and He will never violate scripture. But that doesn’t mean he won’t do new things. Remember, Jesus was a new thing. That is why the Pharisees couldn’t receive Him. He wasn’t following the old guidelines for fasting, or observing the Sabbath. He didn’t match what they thought he’d look like. And when he cast out demons, they accused him of being an instrument of Satan, to which he responded, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” I encourage you, as you evaluate the ministries of Christians who look different than you expect to ask the Lord to show you the fruit. In my life, Chuck’s church, and the leadership there, have lead me to a place of freedom from condemnation and shame. I am seeing and feeling the Lord’s deep love for me, and His unstinting commitment to me as I grow in Him. I pray that each of you would experience the same thing in your walks with the Lord. By all accounts of dispensational prophetic words we are in the "last days". Thus, we are seeing God pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. Both Joel and Peter spoke these words. Why can't you and I say the same thing and be in agreement with the word of God? In all cases it is the "word of the Lord". It is either excepted or rejected today, just as it was when Jesus try to share the "word" of God with the relgious leaders of His day. Some received it and recognized who He was, however most were blinded by their own laws and religious/denominational traditions to recognize the "new move of God". Ginny W is right.....propheitc words and teaching draw us closer to God's word...both written and spoken. Also remember, not everything happens over night. How many years did it take for the prophetic words of Jesus birth, death, and resurrection to be fulfilled? How many years has it been since Jesus said He was coming back and He would prepare a place for us? Seems like Jesus said I only share the words of my Father. Does this mean all the people who have died prior to His second coming found the "prophetic" words of Jesus to be wrong? As you read the verses John wrote; ask yourself where did he learn this from and who gave him instructions so he could say "By this we KNOW the spirit of truth and the spirit of error." Well said, Ginny. There seems to be such a dichotomy in the church today - or maybe it's always been there - where half the believers are over on one fringe, and half on the other. Either they're screaming warnings about false prophets and demons, or they're gullibly swallowing every aberrant teaching out there. Surely we have the sane solution in the Scripture itself: we are to search the Scriptures to see if these things are so. We are to spend LOTS of time in the presence of the LORD, digging into His Word; staying in a position of humility and compassion. This is the ONLY way to avoid being deceived. There seems to be such a dichotomy in the church today – or maybe it’s always been there – where half the believers are over on one fringe, and half on the other. Either they’re screaming warnings about false prophets and demons, or they’re gullibly swallowing every aberrant teaching out there.

I always like to see what other people say about high profile Christians (and there are many now, thanks to the internet!) I will be maybe only one who will disagree with your estimation of chuck Pierce as a leader who "turns" people and the church away from the true teachings of scripture. People like Chuck Pierce and other prophetic people have me RUNNING to the scripture to find out what is true and what is false. Scripture tells us to do that. As for all the different categories of mystics and comtemplatives, etc. etc., I can't help but think that Ezekial, and Daniel and many other OT prophets fell into that category. Listen to some of the things that David said about his relationship to God. It wasn't a simple a "dry excursion" into the Torah.
